Background

Chyara Smith Stopp has been a lawyer for over 15 years with substantial experience in negotiations (A.B. Stanford University; J.D. University of Michigan Law School; LL.M. University of Heidelberg, Germany).

She is a qualified neutral under the Minnesota Statute ADR Rule 114 having completed the Family Mediation Skills Training from the Mediation Center for Dispute Resolution in affiliation with Hamline Law and Graduate Schools. She has also participated in the Advanced Training Course in Mediation in German-American Conflicts Involving Parents and Children sponsored by the Bundes-Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Familien-Mediation (BAFM).

Chyara is bilingual (English and Germany) as well as an expatriate and brings an understanding and knowledge of issues facing families, those living indefinitely or temporarily in Europe as well as military families dealing with divorce and family law conflicts. She is married and has one son.
